The ID 62HQ is designed for both professional and heavy-duty home use. With a 62CC engine, 2.6 kW of power, and a 22-inch guide bar, it is well-suited for demanding tasks such as tree felling, logging, and land clearing. It is more powerful than typical entry-level chainsaws and is best suited for users who need a reliable, high-performance tool for regular or intensive cutting work.

A 62CC engine places the ID 62HQ firmly in the professional/semi-professional category. Compared to smaller 35–45CC chainsaws typically used for light pruning and garden maintenance, the 62CC engine delivers significantly more torque and sustained cutting power — allowing it to handle large-diameter hardwood logs and extended cutting sessions without overheating or losing performance.

The ID 62HQ runs on gasoline (petrol) mixed with 2-stroke engine oil at a 25:1 fuel-to-oil ratio. This means for every 25 parts of petrol, you add 1 part of 2-stroke oil. The 550ml fuel tank provides a good runtime per fill. Both unleaded petrol and 2-stroke oil are widely available at fuel stations and hardware stores.

The automatic chain oiling system uses a dedicated 260ml oil tank to continuously feed lubricating oil to the guide bar and chain during operation. Unlike older systems that require the operator to manually pump oil or pre-mix oil with fuel, this system works automatically — ensuring the chain stays properly lubricated at all times, reducing wear, extending chain life, and maintaining cutting efficiency throughout the job.

The anti-vibration system uses dampening elements positioned between the engine block and the handle assembly to absorb and isolate the vibrations generated during cutting. This directly reduces the hand-arm vibration (HAV) transmitted to the operator, lowering the risk of fatigue, discomfort, and long-term conditions like Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS). The result is a more comfortable grip and better control, especially during prolonged use.

With a 22-inch (560mm) guide bar, the ID 62HQ can effectively cut logs with a diameter of up to approximately 40–44 inches using a technique called bore cutting, or logs up to 20 inches in a single straight pass. For most practical applications — including felling medium to large trees and processing firewood logs — the 22-inch bar provides more than sufficient reach and cutting depth.

Difficulty starting is most commonly caused by incorrect fuel mixture, stale fuel, or a flooded engine. Ensure you are using the correct 25:1 petrol-to-2-stroke-oil ratio with fresh fuel. If the engine is flooded, leave the choke open and pull the starter cord several times to clear excess fuel. Also check that the spark plug is clean and properly gapped, and that the air filter is not clogged. The plastic starter assembly is designed for smooth, reliable pull-starts when the engine is properly maintained.

A loose chain is a common issue that occurs with normal use as the chain stretches slightly after initial break-in. The ID 62HQ features an adjustable chain tension system — use the included 13–19 spanner and L-type spanners to tighten the chain to the correct tension. The chain should be snug against the bar but still able to be pulled around by hand. Always check and adjust chain tension before each use and after the first 10–15 minutes of operation on a new chain.

The instant-stop (chain brake) mechanism is a critical safety feature that immediately stops the chain when a sudden kickback event is detected. Kickback occurs when the tip of the guide bar contacts an object unexpectedly, causing the bar to rotate upward rapidly toward the operator. The instant-stop mechanism activates either by inertia (detecting the sudden rotational force) or by the operator's wrist or hand contacting the front hand guard. This stops the chain within milliseconds, significantly reducing the risk of serious injury.
